Waneta Dyani Falcon

Waneta has lived in the Seattle area all her life and has been involved with the transgender community for many years. A member of The Emerald City Social Club in Seattle since 2002 and Treasurer of the club since 2005, she has also been a facilitator for Pacific Gender Support in Seattle and part of the original steering committee. She attended her first Esprit in 2003 and since 2005 has been part of the planning committee.

Waneta coordinates the Saturday Gala, arranges all the Resources in the mall, and runs the silk scarf painting activity.

About her son Brad:

Brad was born, raised and grew up in the Seattle/Eastside area and after graduation from High School moved to Salem Oregon where he received a degree in Fire Suppresion. Unable to find a firefighter position soon after graduation and needing some income he decided to take a position with the City of Salem and has worked as a Recreation Specialist for the past 10 years. Because he has enjoyed this new career so much he's decided to pursue a Bachelors degree in Liberal Science with minors in Business and Physical Education and continue in this particular field of work.

Family Dynamics and Transitioning

Along with her grown son Brad, Waneta discusses their relationship their views, perspective, and the effects on the relationship of a transgender parent and her son before, during, and after the transition process.

Brad will be the focus of a presentation you won't want to miss. Brad will be giving his honest and candid thoughts on what it was like to find out in his mid teens that he had a transgender parent and how he dealt and is dealing with the positive and negative aspects of such a paradigm shift in his life.
